Mantis Vision: The Complete DeFAI Stack
mantis

From day 1, our vision at Mantis has been to allow users to simply talk to their app and tell it what to do, with the app taking care of the rest on the backend. In fact, we even outlined this idea in the oldest whitepaper of the Composable Foundation years ago – complete with cross-chain composability. Now is the time for this vision to become fully realized.
Mantis resolves the lack of AI agent infrastructure in the current DeFAI landscape. Specifically, many AI agents lack a moat. In other words, they don’t have anything to preserve their competitive advantage - namely, a monetization strategy. When the buzz on AI agents inevitably settles, AI agents need something that will ensure they provide a financially effective, impactful service. This problem is addressed by the Mantis solver network, which provides AI agents with a monetization strategy. Effectively, Mantis monetizes the orderflow generated by AI agents, providing them with a real value add and staying power in the industry.
Keep reading to find out how all of the components that Mantis and the Composable Foundation have been working on for months and years come together to form a complete technical stack for DeFAI.
The Mantis Foundational Tech Stack
We always believed that a complete application should be vertically integrated. We spent years building out the execution and settlement portions of this tech stack at the Composable Foundation and Picasso Network. Mantis finally was introduced to enable expression to synergize with these other layers, providing a fully integrated stack which allows us to earn revenue directly and ensure an optimized, streamlined user experience.
All of this research and development has culminated in the current Mantis tech stack:
With this model, AI agents have control over monetizing their own orderflow, and the best possible execution.

Here’s the breakdown of each component of our tech stack and how it supports DeFAI:
Expression
Our expression layer of the Mantis app allows the user to input their desired outcomes for a transaction. Initially, our approach for this used intents: users stated the end result of a transaction, and the rest was carried out by our execution and settlement layers. Now, the expression layer is AI-capable. AI agents can interact with it via the Mantis Intents SDK to initiate swaps on Mantis. We are also releasing our large language model (LLM), DISE: DeFi Interactive Search Engine. This will allow users to simply type out in plain language any sort of swap they want to make on or between Ethereum and Solana. Then, execution and settlement are automatically carried out, as described below.
Execution
Orderflow execution at Mantis/Composable was originally addressed by our routing layer. Now, execution is AI-capable. Solvers on Mantis compete to provide the best solution to orderflow coming through the protocol. Solvers can be AI agents, which use their significant ability to sift through large volumes of data to identify the best execution pathways for a given order. Importantly, the solver network on Mantis provides AI agents with a monetization strategy - when AI agents act as solvers, they are able to generate value by finding the best settlement route for users. This provides AI agents with additional value add beyond finding cheap trades or high-yield opportunities.
Settlement
Cross-chain settlement of AI-generated orderflow on Mantis is carried out over the Mantis rollup and its Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) Protocol connections. The Mantis rollup is a Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) layer 2 that has been custom engineered to act as a settlement layer for AI. Thanks to the Picasso Network’s work expanding IBC, the Mantis rollup is natively interoperable with both Solana and Ethereum. The solver that has identified the best solution to a user order is granted settlement rights on Mantis, and is able to complete settlement over IBC.
The Mantis AI Tech Stack
Building on the Mantis foundational tech stack, we have created AI features:
DISE - DeFAI Interactive Search Engine
Our LLM DISE will make Mantis compatible with natural language, letting users tell the Mantis app what they want achieved in their own words.
Personalized AI Agents
Mantis believes that AI should be catered to the individual: 1 agent, 1 account. We plan to enable personal AI agents associated with Mantis accounts that learn from an individual user’s wants and needs. At first, these agents will support swaps, but Mantis is expanding to support all DeFi features, including lending, borrowing, yield optimization, and more. Through these agents, users will be able to have more insights about their swaps than ever before. Functionalities that are available now are:
Smart money tracking.
Copy trading specific addresses or strategies.
Swapping.
Bridging.
Lookup for PnL (Profit and Loss).
Fetching insightful information on specific assets or trends.
The Lady Mantis AI Agent
This insights-focused agent aggregates real-time market data and sentiment, serving as a hub of intelligence for the entire Mantis ecosystem. Find her posting on X @xladymantisx.
Future AI Tech Stack Additions
Conditionality
Soon, Mantis will introduce advanced conditionality to agents, allowing users to define specific parameters for transactions. This includes limit orders, stop losses, dollar cost averaging (DCA), copy trading, and more. These conditions are informed by a suite of real-time on-chain data sources. Agents will be able to subsequently execute transactions on behalf of users by operating on secure smart contracts, with account abstraction ensuring seamless fund management.
Conditionality will be augmented by a notification system where personal AI agents alert users about critical events, such as price movements or social media trends, relevant to their conditional requests. Thus, users won’t miss out on new and valuable opportunities.
Open-Source Expansion
DISE is currently plugged into ELIZA for enhanced AI capabilities. But, we are committed to open-sourcing our AI library soon. This will enable others to capitalize upon the Mantis full-stack approach to DeFAI.
Summary
Gone are the days of digging through tons of on-chain data and social media noise, then manually transacting between a number of apps, chains, and wallets just to get one end result. This shift from manual to automated DeFi will lower barriers to entry while reducing time requirements and eliminating human errors. This makes DeFi less complex and more accessible.
However, AI agents still lack infrastructure and a monetization strategy. Mantis provides this, enabling AI agents to have staying power in a rapidly-evolving industry.
The road to fully autonomous agents is here, and Mantis is leading the charge.
